In brief: Brazil’s oil production up 18.5% in August

* Brazil’s oil and gas sector regulatory agency (ANP) released figures for oil and natural gas production for August. Oil production reached a monthly record of 2.99m barrels per day, a 7.7% increase on production in July and a 18.5% increase on total production recorded in August 2018. Natural gas production also reached a monthly record, totalling 133.3m cubic metres per day in August, which represents a 7.4% monthly increase and a 25.3% increase year-on-year. Overall, oil and gas production in August totalled an average 3.83m barrels of oil equivalent per day. Brazil’s state-owned oil company Petrobras was responsible for 93.2% of the country’s total oil and gas production in August.
