In brief: Brazil vehicle production up, but exports down

* Brazil’s national association of automobile manufacturers (Anfavea) has released figures for September 2019, which show that vehicle production has continued to increase this year. Production of automotive vehicles increased 10.9% in September 2019 compared with September 2018, with a 10.1% increase in sales in the domestic market. However, exports fell by 7.1%. For the period January-September 2019, Anfavea records production of 2.26m vehicles, up 3.2% on the same period last year. Exports during this period totalled 337,500 units, a 35.6% decrease on last year. Anfavea expects production to continue rising to the end of the year, and to close 2019 with a total sale of 2.8m automotive vehicles on the domestic market, a 9.1% increase on last year.
