* The World Economic Forum (WEF) has published the latest edition of its annual Global Competitiveness Report, which show Colombia climbed three positions in the global competitiveness ranking compared with 2018 to rank 57
th out of 141 countries. The report analyses 12 pillars of competitiveness, encompassing topics such as infrastructure, business dynamism and market size. Colombia was surpassed in Latin America only by Chile (33
rd), Mexico (48
th), and Uruguay (54
th). According to the report, Colombia’s strengths include health and macroeconomic stability, ranked overall 16
th and 43
rd respectively, while weaknesses are institutions (92
nd) and innovation capacity (77
th).
