“100% false, absurd, ridiculous, Alice in Wonderland crazy”. This was the response by President Juan Orlando Hernández to claims made on 2 October that Mexican drug lord Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán Loera gave US$1m to his brother, Juan Antonio ‘Tony’ Hernández, that was intended for him. A former national legislator for the ruling Partido Nacional (PN), Tony Hernández was arrested in November 2018 on drug-related allegations.
