* Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures which show that manufacturing was up 4.1% in August 2019 year-on-year (5.3% if the Teja de Ancap refinery is excluded). A report by a local think-tank Centro de Investigaciones Económicas (Cinve), which takes into account these official government data, pointed out that industrial core production was up 1.8% compared with August 2018. Cinve added that although the increase in production was moderate, it was the highest in the last 15 months.
