In brief: Mexican court green lights Santa Lucía airport

* A Mexican court has revoked the last legal recourse suspending the start of construction of the mixed civil/military Santa Lucía international airport – a major infrastructure project for President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s government. In a press release opposition group #NoMásDerroches, which had obtained the now-withdrawn legal suspension, said that “although there are no judicial orders prohibiting the government to start construction, litigation will continue until the proceedings have concluded in a definitive way”. The collective, comprising local organisations, legal firms, and citizens, added that construction still cannot begin as the government lacks required documentations like a cost-benefit analysis and an environmental impact study.
