In brief: IDB approves US$19.5m loan for poverty reduction in Honduras

* The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a US$59.5m loan for Honduras to be used by the government to combat extreme poverty in the country. As the IDB writes in a press release, although the Honduran economy has recently been one of the most “dynamic” in all of Latin America and the Caribbean, Honduras is currently facing “great social challenges”, in particular its high rates of poverty and inequality. The approved loan will help combat these challenges by supporting the “adoption, design, and implementation” of policies geared towards reducing these rates.
