In brief: Panama’s GDP up 3.16% in first eight months of 2019

* Panama’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released figures which show Panama’s GDP grew 3.16% in the first eight months of 2019 compared with the same period in 2018. Panama’s GDP expanded by 3.7% in 2018. In its most recent (July 2019) forecast, the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America (Eclac) is forecasting 4.9% growth in 2019.
