* The Panama Canal authority (ACP) has announced that the Canal closed the 2019 fiscal year with a revenue of US$3.36bn, representing an increase of 3.9% on previous estimates. A total of US$3.07bn was generated between 1 October 2018 and 30 September 2019 in transit revenues, which includes tolls and other services charged to ships crossing the canal. Of this transit revenue, US$2.59bn was generated by tolls, with container ships accounting for US$1.19bn of this total. The rest of the revenue, US$135.7m, was principally generated by some of the other Panama Canal businesses which include electricity and drinking water production, as well as interest earnings.
