Paraguay reproaches international community over escape of wanted criminals

Following the escape to Finland of three Paraguayan nationals wanted in Paraguay on kidnapping charges, the Paraguayan government has complained that the fugitives were allowed to exploit the international asylum system by various countries and even the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR). Besides producing diplomatic tensions, the case also raises some uncomfortable questions about the asylum system and international law enforcement cooperation.
