* Peru’s housing, construction & sanitation ministry (MVCS) has announced an investment of PEN$209.24m (US$62.29m) in water and sanitation projects for the 2020-2021 period with the aim of fighting anaemia and chronic infant malnutrition. The investment relates to 47 projects that will benefit over 17,000 citizens living in the Peruvian Amazon area. The projects will be managed under Peru’s national programme for rural sanitation (PNSR), which has so far received investments of PEN$442.62m and been successful in launching 99 projects across 162 locations benefiting 45,900 people. The investment coincides with the MVCS’s launch of the first rural Amazonia fair which is scheduled to take place on 5-6 December which will focus on innovative and non-conventional technical developments that will provide vulnerable communities with safe drinking water and sanitation.
