In brief: El Salvador’s remittances up 4.5% in first ten months

* El Salvador’s central bank (BCR) has released new figures which show remittance inflows to the country totalled US$4.64bn in the first ten months of 2019, up 4.5% on the same period in 2018. As regards El Salvador’s Central America ‘Northern Triangle’ neighbours, the report showed remittances to Guatemala totalled US$8.7bn in the first ten months, up 13.8% on the same period in 2018, while Honduras received US$4.56bn in remittances, up 12.3% on the same period in 2018.
