PARAGUAY: Gov’t struck by Brazil’s ‘Lava Jato’ probe

On 19 November, Brazilian authorities issued a preventative arrest warrant against Paraguay’s former president Horacio Cartes (2013-2018) as part of Brazil’s ongoing ‘Lava Jato’ corruption investigation, in an operation dubbed ‘Patrón’ which also implicates the Paraguayan government’s current chief-of-staff, Juan Ernesto Villamayor.
