Alberto Fernández has held a meeting with
Alicia Bárcena, the executive secretary for the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac), in which the two pledged to deepen mutual cooperation and work together to combat poverty and hunger in Argentina. Fernández, who is due to assume office on 10 December, has said that these issues will feature as a priority for his future government. Bárcena referred to the meeting via

magnificent” and affirmed Eclac’s commitment to supporting Fernández’s national project for the promotion of sustainable and inclusive development within Argentina.
