The political atmosphere in Guyana has calmed somewhat since President David Granger announced 2 March as election day. The president’s long prevarication, and legal wrangling, over holding the election following the 21 December 2018 vote of no confidence had made Guyana’s politics even more rancorous than normal. Officially, an election should have been held within 90 days of passing of the no confidence motion.
