On 4 December Hugo Rodriguez, the deputy assistant secretary of state for Central America and Mexico in the US State Department, said that the US government would put “any and all tools” at the disposal of the Mexican government to help tackle the public security challenge posed by drug trafficking organisations (DTOs) in Mexico.
