BRAZIL-ARGENTINA: Trump tariff raises questions over future ties

Of all the countries in Latin America, Argentina and Brazil seemed amongst the least likely to be at the receiving end of US President Donald Trump’s unpredictable condemnations and policy decisions. The announcement that the US would re-impose tariffs on its imports of Brazilian and Argentine steel and aluminium, made via Twitter on 2 December, therefore came as somewhat of a surprise.
