MEXICO: Revised data show first-half recession

Contrary to the campaign promises made by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, domestic economic activity remains stagnant. Revised data from Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi), released in late November, show that real GDP contracted slightly on a quarter-on-quarter basis in both the first and second quarters of the year, meeting economists’ broad definition of an economic recession.
