NICARAGUA | Budget. Nicaragua’s national assembly approved a 2020 national budget on 10 December for C$80.9bn (US$2.4bn), a 1.1% increase on the 2019 budget. The budget, described as “austere” by the government, is based on a GDP growth forecast of 0.5% next year following the two consecutive years of negative growth registered in the country as a result of the widespread anti-government protests that erupted in April 2018 and that are ongoing.
