In brief: Argentina’s Fernández could back Mercosur-EU deal
* Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández has said that he does not oppose the trade deal reached in June between the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) and the European Union (EU), on condition that it does not hurt Argentine industry. “We are going to make Mercosur our common space from which we will face globalisation, an irreversible fact that we must take on with intelligence,” Fernández said while taking part in the launch of a strategic plan for the automobile sector at the headquarters of the mechanics and automotive sector workers union (Smata).
