In brief: Brazil’s current account deficit down slightly

* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released the latest balance of payments figures which show that the current account deficit totalled US$51.2bn, or 2.78% of GDP, in the 12 months to November 2019, down from US$52.1bn (2.83% of GDP) in the 12 months to October. The BCB records a US$2.2bn current account deficit in November 2019, down from US$3.1bn in November 2018. Exports of goods fell 15.9% in November compared with the same month last year, while imports fell by 14.5%.
