In brief: Colombia’s exports fall by 6.2% in 2019

* Colombia’s national statistics institute (Dane) has reported that total exports fell by 6.2% in 2019. This was driven primarily by the poor performance of Colombia’s two major exports, coal (down 22.6%) and oil (down 6.6%). Dane noted that exports in other sectors grew by an average of 1.3%, with a 19.8% increase in exports of non-monetary gold bringing in a total of US$1.55bn.
