In brief: Annual fall in Mexico’s industrial production

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show the country’s industrial production contracted by 1.7% in November 2019 year-on-year. Compared with the previous month, industrial production in November showed a slight increase of 0.8%. The latest figures follow the release of a new study by a local think-tank, Instituto para el Desarrollo Industrial y el Crecimiento Económico (IDIC), which points out that Mexico’s industrial sector has faced 14 months of recession, having begun a process of deceleration since the second quarter of 2018.
