In brief: Mexico’s retail sales up

* Vicente Yañez, the president of Mexico’s retailers’ association (Antad), has said in a press conference that retail sales in the country were up 7.7% in 2019. The growth in sales comes despite Mexico’s slowing economy: GDP contracted by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2018 and in the first and second quarters of 2019, while growth in the third quarter was flat (0%).
