In brief: Guatemala’s growth for 2019 higher than expected

* Guatemala’s central bank (Banguat) expects Guatemala will close 2019 with 3.6% GDP growth, up from initial forecasts of between 3% and 3.8% (3.4% average) made at the start of 2019. The most recent (December 2019) projections by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America & the Caribbean (Eclac) forecast 3.3% GDP growth for Guatemala for 2019 and 3.2% GDP growth for 2020.
