In brief: Brazil oil production surpasses 1bn barrels in 2019

* Brazil’s national oil agency (ANP) has reported that the country produced 1.018bn barrels of oil in 2019, a 7.78% increase on the volume of production in 2018. Natural gas production expanded 9.46% last year to a total of 44.724bn cubic metres. Production in the deep-water ‘pre-salt’ area increased by 21.56% for oil and 23.27% for gas. The pre-salt area accounted for 66.82% of national production in December 2019, representing 2.655m barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day.
