In brief: Colombia issues US$1.84bn in bonds

* Colombia’s finance ministry has announced that it has issued US$1.84bn of bonds into global markets, in an attempt to improve the country’s debt profile. The two-part operation raised US$1.54bn with the ten-year Global 2030 bond, at a coupon rate of 3%, and US$300m with the Global 2049 bond, at a coupon rate of 3.97%. Director of public credit César Arias reported extremely high demand, with US$7.4bn of purchase orders received, indicative of investor confidence in the Colombian economy.
