BRAZIL: Government falls foul of controversy again
Brazil has been shaken by another ideology-driven scandal. The culture secretary, Roberto Alvim, unleashed a storm of criticism after he seemingly referenced Nazi propaganda in a video published on social media last week. He was fired the following day. The question now being asked is to what extent such controversies, regular features of President Jair Bolsonaro’s government which are often dismissed as mere noise, are damaging the country.
