On 29 January, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it is expanding its Migration Protection Protocols (MPP) to Brazilian nationals, meaning that Brazilian migrants arriving in the US via Mexico will be returned to Mexico while they await the processing of their asylum claim.
