USMCA boost. US President Donald Trump signed the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) into law on 29 January. Trump, who refused to invite any Democrats to the signing ceremony in the White House, portrayed the USMCA trade deal as a personal triumph, immodestly describing it as “the largest, fairest, most balanced, and modern trade agreement ever achieved,” drawing to a close the “Nafta nightmare”. The USMCA must still be ratified by Canada, where the House of Commons began the process this week.
