In brief: Venezuela’s central bank releases inflation figures

* Venezuela’s central bank (BCV) has announced an annual inflation figure of 9,585.5% for 2019. While still extremely high, this represents a substantial improvement on the 130,060.2% inflation reported by the BCV for 2018. Confusingly, the BCV’s 2019 inflation figure is higher than the 7,374.4% reported by the opposition-controlled national assembly (AN) in January 2020.
