In brief: Bolivia’s exports dominated by traditional sectors

* Gary Rodríguez, the general manager of Bolivia’s private sector lobby Instituto Boliviano de Comercio Exterior (IBCE), has told China’s official news agency Xinhua, that as in previous years, traditional products such as gas and minerals continue to account for the bulk (some 80%) of the country’s exports. According to IBCE, Bolivia’s total exports were US$8.76bn in 2019, of which minerals accounted for 48% and gas & hydrocarbons for 32%. Overall Bolivia’s exports were down 12% on 2018 in volume terms and 2% in value terms.
