In brief: Mexican gov’t moves on airport acquisition plans

*According to local press reports, Mexico’s federal government has signed an agreement with Spanish transport infrastructure operator, Aleatica, to purchase 49% of Aleatica’s shares in the Toluca international airport situated in the Estado de México (Edomex), an agreement in discussion since August 2019. A December 2019 press release by the federal government had noted that it is also considering acquisitions of other airports such as the 'Benito Juárez' airport, Mexico City’s international airport, and the future Santa Lucía airport (also in Edomex) as part of a broader plan to create a more efficient airport network.
