VENEZUELA: Renewed clashes seem to be imminent

Juan Guaidó has picked out 10 March as the date for his next confrontation with Nicolás Maduro’s government. The planned demonstration will be the first attempt by Guaidó, the widely recognised interim president, to launch a large-scale protest since his return to Venezuela on 11 February, and could provide a crucial litmus test for his capacity to mobilise the Venezuelan public, an ability that dwindled throughout the course of 2019 as he struggled to dislodge Maduro.
