Mexico’s Morena riven by internal power dispute

The internal political leadership conflict besetting Mexico’s ruling Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) was resolved last week when the federal electoral tribunal (TEPJF) ruled that Alfonso Ramírez Cuéllar, a Morena federal deputy, was the party’s rightful interim president. Yeidckol Polevnsky had tenaciously clung to her position as party president, denouncing Ramírez’s election as illegal. Polevnsky said she would abide by the ruling but she is not going quietly.
