* Peru’s economy & finance ministry has reported that the government won an arbitration at the World Bank’s International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (Icsid) over a US$123m compensation claim made by Spanish technical engineering company, Lidercón SL, in relation to a 2017 vehicle inspection contract. The government’s statement emphasised Peru’s “solid track record in its defence against the claims of foreign investors”, eager to highlight this success at the Icsid after Brazilian construction firm Odebrecht brought a US$1.2bn lawsuit to the arbitrator in February.
