In brief: Naturgy to invest in Panama’s electricity grid

* The Spanish natural gas and electrical energy utilities company, Naturgy, will invest US$367m over the next eight years to improve Panama’s electricity grid. The the aim is to resolve the daily power cuts in the country, frequently caused by traffic collisions against electricity pylons, the company’s Panama director, José Luis Lloret, has told Spanish newswire EFE. Lloret said that the company is in the process getting approval from Panama’s public services regulator, Asep, for this quality improvement plan, but hopes to begin work as early as 1 April.
