In brief: Brazilian gov’t revises GDP forecast down

* The economic policy secretariat (SPE) in Brazil’s economy ministry has released its latest macroeconomic overview in which it has, as expected, revised the country’s 2020 GDP growth forecast down to 2.1%, from 2.4% previously. The SPE expects the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak to shave between 0.1 and 0.5 percentage points off national economic growth this year, with the most likely scenario being a 0.3 percentage point negative impact on the economy.
