Alvaro Delgado has announced that the economy & finance ministry (MEF) will transfer Ur$1bn (US$22m) to the social development ministry (Mides) to help the most vulnerable to the coronavirus (Covid-19). Among other things these funds will go on setting up new shelters for the homeless, particularly those over the age of 65, providing shelter not just at night but also during the day. Delgado also mentioned plans to move homeless people who have tested positive for the virus to new designated shelters and more general plans to improve access to food for those in need.
