In brief: More measures to help employers announced in Guatemala

* Guatemala’s President Alejandro Giammattei has announced that the social security institute (IGSS), the technical institute for training and productivity (Intecap), and the institute of workers’ recreation (Irta), have suspended collecting employers’ contribution payments as part of efforts to address the economic impact of coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country. On 18 March Giammattei announced measures such as a Q300m (US$39m) fund to support the small and medium-size enterprise (SME) sector.
