* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released the latest balance of payment figures, according to which Brazil’s current account recorded a US$3.9bn deficit in February this year, compared with a US$3.3bn deficit in February 2019. The current account deficit in the 12 months to February totalled US$52.9bn, or 2.91% of GDP, up from 2.86% of GDP in the 12 months to January 2020. Within this, the country’s trade balance suffered a US$45m deficit in January-February 2020, compared with a US$3.7bn surplus in the first two months of 2019.
