In brief: Mexico lowers GDP growth forecast

* Mexico’s finance ministry (SHCP) has released a new report which forecasts national GDP to register growth of between -3.9% and 0.1% in 2020, as a result of the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. In its latest quarterly report (October-December 2019), released at the end of February, Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) had forecast GDP growth of between 0.5% and 1.5% for 2020, after the country’s GDP contracted by 0.1% in 2019.
