US gives Mexico a hand in negotiations with Opec

Brazil: On 10 April the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) issued a statement noting that the previous day, USTR head Robert Lighthizer had spoken by telephone with Brazil’s foreign minister Ernesto Araújo and “several other senior Brazilian officials”. According to the USTR statement, the call was a follow-up to last month’s meeting between US President Donald Trump and Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro in Florida. The statement also noted that Lighthizer and Araújo discussed how to implement the plan proposed by the presidents to intensify the two countries’ economic partnership. They agreed to increase and deepen discussions under the auspices of the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation (Atec).
