* A local think-tank, Fundación Nicaragüense para el Desarrollo Económico y Social (Funides), has released a new report which forecasts that Nicaragua’s GDP will contract between 6.5% and 13.7% in 2020, due in part to the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The report forecasts that the unemployment rate could close the year between 8.3% and 10.3% (up from 6.6% in 2019).
