Julio Mazzoleni has announced the first phase of “
intelligent quarantine”, lasting until 25 May, in which some of the restricitons imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19) will be relaxed. Open air construction work can resume, and factories which comply with health protocols may also reopen. Local businesses such as hairdressers, manicurists, lawyers, and accountants may provide home services, and deliveries can resume. All other people must continue to stay at home. Timetabled individual physical activity is permitted, without using communal areas such as parks, and without straying further than 500m from home. Restrictions on the movement of vehicles will also be maintained. Every three weeks, the government will evaluate whether to impose stricter controls, or to continue relaxing social distancing measures. Mazzoleni insisted that the population has to learn
“the Covid way of living”, maintaining the obligatory use of face masks on public transport, and stressing that taxis must keep their windows open. The next phase, beginning 25 May, plans the reopening of offices and smaller shops, and the resumption of professional sporting and cultural events, but without spectators.
