* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures for the monthly indicator of economic activity (Emae), used as a preview of GDP growth, according to which economic activity contracted by 11.5% year-on-year in March. The Emae fell by 9.8% in March compared with February, while economic activity saw a 5.4% contraction in the first quarter of 2020 compared with 2019. The Indec notes that a
“significant group” of economic activities were affected by the global restrictions on movement, adopted to contain the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
