REGION: Pandemic reignites corruption concerns

At the end of March, the international anti-corruption NGO Transparency International (TI) warned about “serious corruption risks” in Latin America’s emergency response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. These concerns have materialised already in Guatemala and Honduras (which have amongst the worst rankings in Central America in TI’s Corruption Perceptions Index), as well as in Panama.
