BRAZIL: Gov’t looks away as Covid-19 cases surge

On 21 June Brazil’s total death toll from coronavirus (Covid-19) surpassed 50,000, according to figures from the federal health ministry. The number of confirmed cases had risen above 1m two days earlier.
