DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Abinader claims first-round victory
On 5 July Gonzalo Castillo, the presidential candidate for the ruling Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), conceded defeat to Luis Abinader, the candidate for the main opposition Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM), following the general election which took place in the Dominican Republic (DR) the same day.
