In brief: Pemex instructed to develop oilfield with Talos Energy Offshore

* Mexico’s energy ministry has instructed state-owned oil company, Pemex, to jointly develop the 'Zama' oil deposit, located off the coast of the state of Tabasco, with a consortium led by US company Talos Energy Offshore. The energy ministry stated that “unifying the shared oil fields will maximise the value and the economic recovery of the oil”, adding that this would represent the first oilfield ever to be developed jointly between a state company and a private company in Mexico. The two companies have 120 working days to present a unification agreement to jointly develop the Zama oilfield, which is expected to produce oil by the first quarter of 2024.
